The reason for optimism is that Cal has just ONE conference loss! Only 5 teams in the Pac-12 can still go 8-1 or better in conference: USC, UCLA, Oregon, Utah and Cal. Is 8-1 likely? Of course not. But we cannot rule it out yet!
All of Cal's toughest opponents have now put a up a half a season of tape. From an opponent film study perspective, it's a great position for Cal to be in!
