What are we looking at in the portal? Do we have any indication on where we stand?

Nice podcast. I share the optimism. Hopefully we get something nice in the portal for Christmas

Fun podcast as always. However I have to disagree that spread offenses inherently put more strain on the defense. Yes, in theory Musgraves system should have helped our defense test with longer drives. That just wasn’t the case. In my opinion, the pure incompetence of his offense led to even more quick 3 and outs than a spread approach.

Good offenses help a defense, no matter what style they run.

Bowl game again before I die

As always, Rob and Andy, thank you for the quality content. I love the golden bearcast and the Cal football team. I also like to have my wife twist my nipples and shove sharp objects in my butthole. Cal football and basketball fill the void for my never ending need of pain. Eternal sunshine my Cal bros! No matter what I can’t help but feel like next year things will change much like an addict who presses the syringe into my veins hoping this time everything will be different.

I don't care who is coaching: All I want is for Cal to become a winning Rose Bowl Team before I die. Cheat, Steal, Ignore recruiting rules, ANYTHING.

Different game nowadays. What’s going to matter is getting talent here. A LOT. From the portal. Yesterday.

Not exactly the same, but chevk out Frank Beamer's record at Virginia Tech. He started poorly in years 1 to 6. In year 7 (1993) his squad went 9-3, won a bowl game, and never looked back, gojng to a bowl game in each subsequent year that Beamer coached at VT.

Rich Brooks at Oregon was another guy who eventually took his team to the Rose Bowl after only two winning seasons in his first 10. But I am confused about the optimism for Wilcox. His two seasons with winning records came when the Pac 12 was historically bad. You could see the improvement around the league during the shortened COVID season, and that's exactly when Wilcox started regressing. With BIG expected improvements next year from Stanford and Arizona State, someone please tell me where Cal's conference wins are going to come from.
