Never did fulfill my t̶h̶r̶e̶a̶t̶ promise to roll you up QQ in celebration. Maybe someday when you're just an ordinary, Pulitzer-winning fan in attendance.

Thank you, Nam, for the Novels that I've been looking forward to reading Sundays after Cal football games. It really provides a perspective of the week's game not found elsewhere. I still fondly recall sitting near you during the "suboptimal" Cal-UCLA game in 2019 at the Rose Bowl and reading about it the next day in the novel. Best of luck in your next endeavors and Go Bears!

Nam, the spirit animal of Cal fandom. I've been astonished by your ethic, your dedication, your analysis, your evolution.

It's bittersweet to lose your weekly voice in the Cal space. But it's long time for you to translate your time for Cal novels to actual novels.

In the end, it was the love and caring that really stuck with us. Everything you did came from the heart first. You spoke about something because you believed it.

And ultimately you've helped make me and many of us better Cal fans and Cal people too. In all the good ways.

It's been an honor getting to be your teammate in Cal writing this decade. It'll be a greater honor to be your friend in the ones to come.

Go Bears forever.

Thank you for all your hard work Nam, it's been a pleasure reading your work over the past decade. I'm glad you got to finish it out writing about a win over $C. I wish you all the best in your future writing endeavors.

Thanks for all the time you've devoted to covering the team over the years, Nam. I've especially enjoyed The Novel series because you have such an eloquent way of capturing the ethos of a Cal fan: undying optimism amid a flood of disappointment and mediocrity (with occasional sprinkles of delight). This isn't the season any of us hoped for, but I'm glad you got to end it with a season in which the Bears reclaimed the Axe and beat USC again (side note: how wild is it that after a fourteen year losing streak to USC we've now won two of the last three against them?).

Although your time writing about Cal has come to an end, I'm glad you'll continue writing. You're an excellent writer and new audiences will be fortunate to hear your voice.

eloquent as ever, going to miss you on this front. Maybe as a door closes for you, one may open fr me writing here and I could hopefully articulate maybe 10% of the fandom you illustrated over the years.

It seems I am the first to once again say "Thank You" and wish you all the best in your teaching and writing and living going forward. We never forget we are Cal grads first. In that regard I know we all wish each other the best. Your thoughts on this game reflect my own as a fan of even longer duration than you. A victory, but somehow an echo of a victory.

I know you are not stepping away from being a rabid fan, and I hope to see you at games in the future. Thank you for writing words that helped me understand and appreciate this silly game we find such joy and pain in following. Fiat Lux for you Nam. Fiat Lux.

Touching last novel. We’ll miss you!

As for the game, the micro novel is sure the hell beats losing.
