“100 percent committed” just doesn’t mean what it used to…

I'm 100% committed...until I'm not.

You miss 100% of the commitments you don't make.

OT: Duncan QB out of Miramonte is projected to go to fucla on one of the recruiting sites. Imagine if Musgrave can't land him!! No Rashada no Duncan and we may not have a QB this cycle. Cal offered 3 QBs late (within the last month) and one has already committed to Oregun State (ouch). The other 2 don't seem that likely either. But what gets me is that none of these 3 are considered pro-style QBs, what is Musgrave doing?

Well he's kind of old. Not so great.

If memory serves, CAL's highest rated HS QB recruit ever was Zach Kline which should have been Tedford's...? Per 247 #6 highest rated player ever for CAL... https://247sports.com/college/california/Season/2023-Football/Commits/

Will make it sweeter when we dominate them.

Anyone know what going on with Under Armour lawsuit? Also the softball field renovations?

I was kinda "meh" on this kid and then saw a vid I hadn't seen before. Great foot work for a kid his size. That said, Cal is still in the running for several quality DL so this may end up to be not a big loss.

Different player... wasn't Ashton Sanders supposed to decide and commit over the weekend? Any word on that?

Expand full comment

I believe he had a family emergency.

Seems like he was supposed to decide on father's day but it got kicked out until later this week, but, you know, delays are not usually a good sign.

Thanks! and agreed... on the other hand, if he takes his time and makes a decision he can actually stick with...

Who knows. Maybe USC was his dream school and Cal a logical choice until SC came calling with a schollie offer. Inside the minds of 17-year olds.

For the first time in a while CAL has some studs and depth on D-Line. Talele would have had to compete for playing time. USC has a really good offense, but their defense is questionable (if you watched their Spring game it would be clear). My guess is that USC told Talele would get immediate playing time. All the pundits love USC because of Lincoln Riley and their success with the transfer portal. Some are even saying USC makes the Playoffs next year. I say not with freshman d-linemen starting. Looking forward to playing them this year. It's gonna be all about getting to Caleb Williams and we have a defense that can do that.

except he's going to USC as OL, not DL. So there goes that theory

I used 247 as a reference and they indicated he will be a D-Lineman at USC. But, my assumption that 247 was right in saying that Talalele will be a D-Lineman could be misplaced.

Very reasonable link, but he does play both lines. CAL was looking at him *probably* on the DL but other schools pitched him to play OL. He reportedly said he did not care which.

True I did not offer support... your response would be more reasonable if you listed "everything" you read... try rivals listing him as an OT https://n.rivals.com/content/prospects/2023/amos-talalele-282988 and maxpreps listing him as T (which means offensive line tackle) and DT https://www.maxpreps.com/athlete/amos-talalele/LGTDf5E1EemA0ZFtwg1OMQ/default.htm but I'm not bothering at this time to dig up "everything" I read about his recruitment... so if that's still unreasonable to you then let's see your support for just DL...

Cal offered him as DL but could have been moved to OL if needed. He’s going to USC as OL.

Over-rated. Just adding Riley to the mix doth not a championship-caliber team make. SC has had problems for years being consistent. The days when they could stockpile 4 and 5 star athletes into a 3 to 4 deep depth chart appear to be gone. I remember years and years ago SC would just steamroll Cal, I remember attending a game where Marcus Allen ran wild at Memorial.

Just adding Riley doesn't make a championship-caliber team. He's putting together a wealth of talent, though, that would make USC terrifying by 2024.
