My primary concern is equity within teams and equity between teams and conferences. While I realize that the capitalist system is based on merit, even pro teams have salary caps and such to ensure a measure of equity for the sake of fan support. I like models that have players sharing a % of their earnings with their fellow players, not leaving it to the honor system. And the only way to prevent USC or Alabama from locking in the best players because those markets can pay the most, is to have some version of a salary cap or sharing system. There is no way on Earth that Oregon State will compete with Oregon or Washington State with Michigan if there is not some system like this. Even though each team would still only be limited to XX players, right now Cal sometimes gets a DeSean Jackson or a Marshawn Lynch because why not? No one will get the 4 and 5 star guys anymore except places that hold potential of the biggest payouts. It will be the US vs. Panama every year in this scenario. Please no.

It will be interesting to see what kind of compensation package players will receive, and I'm wondering if there will be cap to help the poorer teams like Cal.

Alas, the Supreme Court ruled out buying athletes Lambos. Otherwise I was going to open up the wallet.
