This would be a great pick up. With Spav and our new offense and competition from two other QB's with very limited or no game experience, he would have a great chance to move into the starting role; better than at Bama and I would think Auburn. Not sure about Stanfurd, other than they are in rebuild with a new coach and his sister goes to CAL. I say he comes to the Bears!

Per Faraudo, Cal is close to landing Ben Finley, ostensibly to backup Sammy Jax…Buchner would be a candidate to start here…Finley is pretty firmly a step down from Da Fifth…maybe makes more sense.

Meh... wouldn't hurt to have him at least for depth but I'd rather dive into the unknown with Sam V or Mendosa. Pyne outplayed buchner the last 2 years at ND and we all saw first hand last year the definition of mediocre with pyne.

yeah, sure, he's a great fit, but the odds of him signing with Cal are about as good as teh BiG making an offer to join

Insta-commit to Bama. Move along

Buchner's from San Diego. La Jolla's not an independent city, much as it would like to be for tax reasons.

Anyways, great potential pickup.

I would agree with OC Bear, I don't think there is any chance he signs with CAL; QBs are not coming to CAL to be 2nd or 3rd string. Sounds like we already have QB1 already. Also, why is it that we cannot get even 1 of the 100 OLs in the transfer portal to commit to CAL? Every day I look at a different OL committing to another school. USC seems to get whichever top-rated portal candidate they want, they picked up the Georgia DL and the OL from Wyoming. We used to churn out NFL OLs.

He's exactly the type of player the coaches said they're looking for in terms of game experience. He has 3 years of eligibility so would not be a 1-year rental. He's pro-style but has enough mobility that he could possible share a playbook with Jackson. (Maybe?) I'd imagine we don't want to give our OL too large of a playbook until they're up to speed.
