I'm late to reading this article, but it was fantastic. I feel like UCLA skates by the ire of most Cal fans simply because they have UC in their name, but their fans are just awful. They can bribe US News, and buy Cal players, and talk as much shit as humanly possible, but we all know they couldn't get in.
Turning a blind eye to the moronic subhed, I hope the writer feels as good after the game as he does after this obvious self-therapy piece. It’s funny in parts, objectively informative in parts, and dripping with a lot of broad-brush personal hurt and resentment against an accredited institution that feels no pain.
I think the writer feels really good right now. Do you?
Do you realize this is a Cal fan site? I just read this preview for the first time after watching the game, and the writer was spot on. His breakdowns were very accurate.
Yes, I do feel good. Great, even. How could one not after a win like that? And I’ve been giving my comment some additional thought, in retrospect. Of course I stand by my comment about the moronic subhed. We are alleged graduates or students of UC Berkeley and can surely express ourselves better than ”loser ass” and whatever. I gave the author his props for humor and elucidation, but I read in there some dread and inadequacy (football-wise) masquerading as bravado and invective. So I wrote what I wrote. It’s a fan site where we get to say what we feel, right?
To answer your question, yes, I’m aware; I’ve been contributing to and reading this fan site since it was someplace else and was just streams and streams of text. I called myself StandupBear in those days, owing to my, at the time, avocation of doing standup.
Fact is, before this game I had feelings of dread, too, and figured the writer was doing his best to make himself and his readers feel better. That was my “self therapy” point. He made some great points and his breakdowns were accurate, as you note. I don’t recall saying otherwise.
I appreciate your civil discourse. May it ever be thus for each of us. Go Bears.
I'm glad you feel great. I honestly found it pretty funny. If you have been with us since those days, then you should be used to this kind of humor. Every community has their characters. I think this site has written articles or comments like this. I find it part of college sports rivalries.

Nothing wrong with resenting an institution that's willing to damage 10 other universities, mostly public, and blow up over 100 years of tradition in order to make $10M/year more. Probably not even that if you remove travel expenses plus Calimony. Hope they think it's worth not having any rivals left to play, getting beat up in the B1G, and losing the rest of their fan base.

Jarred Goff and the Three-Alligator Offense.
Reminds me of Goff’s learning curve

Yeah but they destroyed something he (we) loves out of short sighted avarice. I’m fine with the snark; it is well earned
This seems like a self therapy reply to me
Oh yeah, aren’t they all?
