UCLA coach Deshaun Foster and Virginia Tech coach Brent Pry both dismissed
Cal will play both in the coming twelve months
Two future Cal opponents will be sporting new faces.
Down South, Deshaun Foster bowed out after a dismal 0-3 start with the UCLA Bruins, losing to Utah, UNLV and New Mexico in miserable fashion. The Bruins look rudderless for the rest of 2025, with a very difficult Big Ten schedule ahead.
UCLA will conduct a national search. The Bruins will debut a new coach when they head to Berkeley for the season opener in the 2026 season. You’d have to expect that UCLA is going to be a bit better by this time next year. Hopefully the Calimony checks still cash!
Cal will face an interim head coach in Blacksburg, as Brent Pry was also let go after getting beaten up by South Carolina, Vanderbilt, and Old Dominion. The Hokies are definitely in transition this season, and the Bears will have a golden chance to walk into a usually hostile environment and grab a crucial midseason victory.
On the flip side, we all know Cal’s struggles against teams in dismal condition as of late. Take nothing for granted.
