The charitable way to look at it is that they have depth at QB. Cameron Friel isn't afraid of pressure, but he doesn't make the best decisions, which could be expected of a young QB.
Thanks for the DEEP research on this team and its offensive players. Clearly they've got some weapons in the passing game. Will be interesting to see if the Bear D can make them one dimensional and if the Rebs try to make any use out of the middle of field.
Yeah I'm starting to get some bad vibes about this one. They're also coming off an early bye so had extra time to prepare for us.
Something about that UC Davis game got me a little skeptical about the strength of this team (defense) and thinking our offensive is really going to need to score this year, but I'm not sure our pass protection will allow it against stiffer competition.
Granted, the defense tends to settle in and improve over the season and show up for big games under Wilcox, but this UNLV game will be a good barometer of what we actually have right now going into ND.
Hey, I love laughing at UCLOL as much as the next guy, but, well, it was 100+ degrees in the Rose Bowl, so I don't blame people for not going. Also, school isn't in session and it's Bowling Green.
To be clear, they had a good RB last year, Charles Williams, but he graduated. For this year's team, I'm a fan of their QB/WR combo (Doug Brumfield and Ricky White).
Supposed to be cloudy on Saturday. The hot weather will have broken by then and given way to the fog.
Great write-up.
Although, I personally attribute the flip TD more to Ross Bowers than Garbers :)
Wow that QB situation seems like a mess but in a good way. Friel was Mountain West Freshman of the Year but got benched for Brumfield.

If I guess how many roses are in Christopher’s profile picture, do I get a prize?
Maybe if you tell me what year Cal will hold it again...
2022.

Great write-up, thank you, I think. Looks like we will have a good game this Saturday.
Wow, that QB got creamed on that blitz by San Jose State
Wait until next week when you see what Notre Dame does to quarterbacks. 😱
Do they give them foot massages?
Thanks for the write-up and analysis. Now I am a bit more worried about this game. Shades of Nevada last season
After reading Nick's article on the Cal secondary and it's zone prowess I'm feeling a bit more bullish.
