Hide your kids and hide your wife because this is going to get ugly.

CAL NEEDS MORE CALLS ON PASS INTERFERENCE THAT'S ALL THAT'S LEFT!

Should be our 60+ year expectation, if we want to keep it real.

"[B]ut I am not sure Cal has the horses to compete on offense, and can’t reasonably imagine this game going well for Cal.

Go Bears."

Thanks for the wake up call, again, Chris.

Cal has the horses and the talent, we all knew it at the beginning of the season!

Coach WILCOX makes the changes to some of our weaknesses.

I have always liked coach WILCOX, he is smart and a true competitor. He seriously hates to loss. So I believe Cal makes for the 2022 upset of the year. This Saturday evening on ESPN

Cal has the talent at the skill positions, sure. But without a serious upgrade to the offensive line, it's an impossible ask for them to make plays all game long week in and week out. If Jaydn Ott wasn't fighting his way out of the backfield every play just to make 1 or 2 yard runs, we'd probably be talking about his Heisman candidacy (the one game he had good lanes, he ran for 274 yards). I think Jack Plummer is a better QB than most people give him credit for, but he's been playing hurt for weeks now, and he's being asked to make difficult throws on dumb play designs while avoiding immediate pressure and absorbing huge hits all game. Hunter and J Mike are probably the two best wideouts since Cal had Keenan Allen and Marvin Jones, but every play we're asking them to make a difficult catch or to create their own yards behind poor blocks, etc.

If Cal has a competent offensive line, they're a 9-3 team. Without it, 3-9.

I agree, our receiver room has a ton of talent as does our RB room. There is too much discussion about the QBs for me to comment. Never the less, what matters to our team is we have depth, And I’m sure we all feel pretty good, knowing just how good our #2 QB. Kai is a true dual threat QB. I think Cal has a great future.

As for this year, Steve Greatwood’s input or adjustment/s to the OLINE may have taken a week longer than what I was expecting.

But with the OLINE adjustments, these small adjustment can have big rippling effects to our entire team. Our defense doesn’t have to be on the field as much. And with more points and a faster game We get to see more of our Spec. Teams #88 is a beast! M Anderson reminds me of a bigger version of Nikko, a play maker that can run it into a quick 6 points, FG, now we’re at 7 points to start the game. Cal could be looking closer to ending 2022 with a 6-7 or 7-6 or even better 8-5 record.

Yeah, but the more we keep being satisfied with being the occasional spoiler the more we are the surprising and plucky, but never contentious, Care Bears. This is not satisfying and surely no commitment to "excellence." Fiat football or do not bother having a program.

That being said, goal posts need to come down, somewhere, if, this Saturday, we beat the best college team money can buy. It could even buy JW some patience from fans.

Well let's hope so. It's hard to see how we beat a USC that is not down (as they were 2018 and 2021). They seem to be firing on all cylinders.

Except that we don't let that blood red scum on our field. Trying to recall the year (1994) when we had a Braveheart moment and pushed them off our field. Tree had his costume stripped from his body. Not a home game for them, ever.

Must have been 1996 then. We lost. StandUrd TRIED to rush the field. That mike-man is my hero (I think he got in trouble though). He said something like "...if those StanfUrd fans rush the field, if any red comes on the field, if that TREE comes on our field.... WE WILL CONQUER!" I would love a transcript of what he said; it should enshrined like Tebow's speech at Florida.

Not complicated, USC basically dropped a plane full of cash on their football program

Like the Red Sox becoming the Yankees 2.0.

Agreed.

Honestly, perpetual mediocrity and hoping to upset teams like USC, year after year, is not a commitment to excellence. Play the game or do not play at all. Simultaneously maintaining and hobbling a football program is a waste of time.
