VT also lost some members to the transfer portal already this season, post coach firing. E.g. CB Dante Lovett and S Christian Ellis. Their biggest problem is that their secondary tends to take poor angles on runs, turning a lot of short runs into long ones, but I'm not sure if we have the ability to capitalize on that at RB. Someone like a vintage Ott would make them pay.

I would like us to play #18 Quaran Adams more. He is small but has quick speed and goods hands.

Ye, but the trouble with that is that he plays the same position as DeJesus

Yes, but what happens if they get both those guys on the field at the same time? We need more speed and good hands. Especially underneath, catch and run opportunities where the height difference isn't such a handicap. Anyway, I really like #18.

This. Speed kills and this offensive staff needs to get creative and figure out how to get our best, fastest players onto the field. If that means dejesus and Adams are on the field together, do it. Put one of them in the backfield and use em like the niners used deebo a few years ago.

VT is coming off a bye week and will have studied the Duke films in detail. They will rush 3 or 4 and try to hurry JKS and force him to throw interceptions. They will pound Rafael because they know he's it as far as Cal's running backs go (or maybe there's someone on the bench we will see for the first time, but doubtful), and JKS is going to need a consistent running game threat to give him enough time to throw the long ball that he likes so much. If our OL can hold back the blitzing LB's of VT long enough for JKS to exploit the VT weak secondary, we may have a shot at a happy flight home. But I am really worried that Duke showed how to rattle this team and everyone we play from now on will see the weaknesses in a mediocre run game and what happens when JKS is forced to throw under pressure and becomes a true freshman QB who makes bad decisions.

Catch passes. That would be excellent Jesse. I hope our coaches figure ways to work #18 Quaran Adams into the receiving game more often. Maybe use him a bit like DeJesus. He is small but can catch and has very good speed to beat their DBs. This defense is not that good. We should score more than their offense. Go Bears!

We don’t know if #18 can catch a forward pass! presume if he could he would play more?

Adams #18 has legit track speed. Many football players etc are fast, but “on the track” fast is another level. I’ve been wondering for weeks why he hasnt been used more. So what that De Jesus is similar in size. The coaches need to figure out how to get them on the field at the same time. Think outside the box…..we need it, and that’s how you win!!!
