Here's how to watch the 124th Big Game: Cal v. Stanford college football game
California fans, rejoice! The 124th Big Game is this Saturday, Nov. 20.
The California Golden Bears (3-6) will travel to Stanford, Calif., eager to put last week’s distractions of COVID-19 behind them and take on archrival Stanford Cardinal (3-7).
College football bettors have soured on California recently.
The Cal v. Stanford college football betting spread opened last Sunday with California as four-point favorites. However, the most recent Cal v. Stanford college football betting line is California -2 and a 45.5 total, according to VegasInsider.com’s “consensus” aggregation of U.S. sportsbook odds Friday night.
The latest California v. Stanford college football betting spread implies California is a two-point favorite to win the 124th Big Game and take back the Stanford Axe.
The betting line has moved in Stanford’s favor, despite California returning many of its starting players, including quarterback Chase Garbers who is expected to play Saturday.
California will need to win the rest of its games this season, including the Big Game and the postponed match against the USC Trojans in December, to become bowl-eligible.
Stanford, which has already been disqualified from post-season play, will look to play spoiler.
The Cardinal have won 10 of the last 11 games against California, and David Shaw is 9-1 against the Golden Bears as Stanford’s head coach.
Even so, the Cardinal have struggled.
Coach Shaw is on the hot seat after losing the last five games straight, including a 21-point defeat in Corvallis, Ore., against the Oregon State Beavers last week. The Cardinal defense struggled to contain Beaver quarterback Chance Nolan to lose the game 14-35.
The Stanford offense may not be any better.
Coach Shaw opted to give true freshman quarterback Ari Patu his first career start. Patu threw for only 51 yards and added both a touchdown and interception before exiting the game in the third game with an injury.
Stanford played three quarterbacks at Oregon State and may play multiple again this weekend.
