Nice write-up on the women, Nick. Looking forward to more. Small sample size but this team is miles ahead of last year's injury-riddled squad. Jayda might not light it up all season but she seems destined for stardom and will be an integral part of Cal's re-emergence in the coming years. Jaydn Bush the grad transfer from Harvard is going to be key in the post as the younger bigs develop. One correction: Ortiz is out for the year.
OT: NLI dates are December 15 - 17 for football. Currently Cal has a small class of 10. Of note, J. Brown is getting a lot of late offers and currently stands at 30 offers. We don't want to lose him!
Curry was Ms. Basketball in the state of California her senior year. The highly ranked bigs, especially Michelle and Daniels need to stay out of foul trouble and contribute more. Coach Smith has some lineup options this year and potentially some very good guards. It will be interesting to observe her as she matures as a HC.
I'm pretty excited about Coach Smith. Mr./Ms State Winners aren't always viable Div 1 elite prospects (Jeremy Lin won for California when he was a senior . .. but then again he did end up in the NBA, and I believe Buzz Peterson was Mr. Carolina in 1981 . . . and won it over some guy named Michael Jordan.), but it is a good indication that she's a winner and may have intangibles that high P5 teams missed.
SDSU?
