Welcome to our weekly predictions post from our writers. You’ll see what they expect the score to be and any wacky or rational predictions they expect to see in each game!

Scoreline: Cal loses 9-28
The Cal defense frustrates Cam Ward as he throws for just over 300 yards, 3 TDs, and 2 INTs; but ultimately the Cal offense struggles to get anything going against a Miami defensive line that commits at least 3 roughing the passer penalties.

Scoreline: Cal loses 13-24
Enjoy all the pomp and circumstance all morning and afternoon, because I don't think it's going to be a very fun evening.

Scoreline: Cal wins 38-21
Eff it. It’s College GameDay week. Might as well shoot for the stars instead of being rational right now. Let’s run this ish.

Scoreline: Cal wins 28-24
This is my only prediction of the season (aside from Stanford) where no thoughts run through my head.
Find a way to win. GameDay in town. It's happening.

Scoreline: Cal loses 17-28
Cal will be lagging by 4 points till Miami scores a dagger TD late in the 4th.

Scoreline: For the first time ever I don't really feel comfortable predicting a score. There are too many hopes and dreams tied into this game to be logical about it.
Look, objectively, I can look at this game and think that this might not be a great matchup. Cam Ward put up a TON of production against Cal last year with a vastly inferior supporting cast, and Wilcox defenses haven't necessarily fared well against truly elite offensive units, and I think Miami has that kind of offense. I think it's probably inevitable that Miami scores into the 30s and Cal's offense just isn't consistent enough on the lines that I'm confident that they can match that level of scoring. But this game isn't about logic. It's an ACC game played at 10:30 eastern time in Berkeley, California, with the eyes of a (sleepy) nation upon us. Let's get weird.
Go Bears!
Mendoza finds his mojo, Ott gains 151 in limited action, Oline is reborn and Jet wows the nation with Two electrifying long hauls to the house.
Meanwhile Cam gets picked in every quarter and fumbles on Miami’s last drive as the Bears win ugly 38-35.
You’re welcome.
Cal’s chances hinge on the fact that Miami’s players (no matter how talented) will be dealing with both a 3 hour time change and not starting until 1030pm their time. That’s weird, and bodes well for Cal in the 2nd half. But Me does and the offense need to get brave and go for it when in the red zone (not play to avoid a mistake). I just watched highlights of Miami’s win against VT. Vt’s running backs brought thru the front 7 and into the open field on multiple occasions, but weren’t explosive enough to “take it to the house”. I predict Ott (now healthy) will take it to the house at least once. If Mendoza can properly lead his receivers we will also have a few big gainers from a talented receiving group. If Cal believes it will win it will do so……but that’s been the open question for most of the past 50 or so years. Perhaps the new start in the ACC will bring a new “I believe” attitude. What say you Ted Lasso????
