Season Prediction: 7-5

There's decidedly more talent on this team compared to the prior few years and its time to put it together. New conference, new expectations.....yet 7-5? Injuries take a toll and while I don't necessarily believe that the teams Cal are playing are better than 2023 but this travel schedule will take some time getting used to and can lead to more variance than I think we are preparing for.

Season Prediction: 7-5 (+ a bowl win)

Cal will live and die by the way we deploy the RB room, I have a feeling that non-Ott RBs will also combine to over 1000 yards with games where we're just grinding teams down to a nub with the running game.

7-5 is based on the fact that the QB position is still in question, likewise the turnover in the WR room could mean a slow start for the non-Endries/TROND passing game.

Season Prediction: 8-4

Really feels like an 8-4 kind of season. Cal is tougher than most ACC journalists are giving it credit for (if they can even remember that Cal is part of the conference), so I think they're being underestimated at the moment. I also think that Cal drops a game to someone like, say, Wake Forest, due to weather or travel complications at some point. I think FSU is going to get the Notre Dame treatment (2022) where the conference is desperate to get its golden goose back on track and refs call the most slanted game ever, although I also think it would be hilarious if the ACC went the opposite direction and ruled against them mercilessly all season as a result of their lawsuit shenanigans.

Am I expecting the Bears to be a better team than last year? A little bit. But I'm expecting the level of competition to drop drastically. There are some good teams in the ACC, of course, but we're not going to be facing off against the likes of UW, Oregon, or Utah. Although I am a little worried about which team is going to become our new Arizona and be the bane of our existence when we visit them. I'm betting on Wake Forest...

It's like four mini 3-game seasons. We'll go 3-0, then be 3-3, then 5-4, then 7-5. We beat who we are are supposed to beat, lose to who we are supposed to lose to, and come out ahead on the tossups.
