Come to the Write For California Watch Party: Friday, Oct. 24, 2025
Come back home to Cal and watch the Golden Bears at the grand opening of the newest bar in UC Berkeley!
There is no Cal football game at home this week, but that doesn’t mean you can’t go home and watch Cal football! Many of your Write for California regulars will be watching the Bears open the season right in Berkeley.
And what better way than to celebrate the Grand Opening Weekend of Headlands on Campus!
Here’s what we have finalized for the day:
WFC Cal Football Watch Party: 4:30–7:30 p.m.
All-day giveaway of Cal-branded glass pint cups (first 100 guests)
As with all WFC away game watch parties, pitchers of all Headlands beers will be 20% off throughout the game!
And, if you order a pitcher of Headlands beer this Friday only, you’ll get up to 4 branded CAL pint glasses (w/4 IDs)!
Write For California Watch parties will take place at Headlands on Campus, located where the previous site of the newest version of the Bears Lair was under Eshleman Hall. You might be familiar with Headlands Brewing from their locations in West Berkeley, Lafayette and Walnut Creek.
They’ve opened a brand new branch on campus to hopefully reinvigorate the magic of the old Lair, and Write for California should have a presence there for all the road games this year, so come on by, say hi, and have a great time watching the Bears!
Cal takes on Virginia Tech this Friday at 4:30 pm. If you are close by, come swing by and watch the Golden Bears in action!
I didn't know the campus pub was renamed "Headlands" but as a former employee of the Headlands Institute in Marin County I'd like to think it is owned by a fellow alumni of Cal and HI!
This will be the first place where I stop on my next visit to Berkeley (maybe second after loading up on Cal swag at the bookstore).
