In 2019 Nick and I noticed that when Chase went downfield, even if it resulted in incompletions, good things tended to happen. Obviously longer completed passes are the ideal, but PI penalties and also a loosening up of the box just to guard against the threat of downfield passes would really help. - just the threat of downfield passing helps the running game. It's like a played who won't/can't shoot 3s. An average 35% 3 point shooter will help a basketball offense, even if the player isn't all that great at shooting. Just has to be the threat of it.
