As they did last year, the California Golden Bears (9-19) ended their arch-rival Stanford Cardinal's (14-13) season in the 2021 Pac-12 Men's Basketball Tournament.
California fired on all cylinders to defeat Stanford 76-58 in Las Vegas Wednesday night. The Golden Bears finished the match shooting 54%, including six out of the six last shots.
Matt Bradley, named to the All-Pac-12 Second Team yesterday, finished the night with a game-high 19 points, including three out of four three-point attempts, six rebounds and six assists. Notably, he also earned one block, rejecting a Lukas Kisunas dunk at the rim with 6:06 remaining in the game.
Rare this season, the Golden Bears played great defense, holding the Cardinal to 38% shooting.
“As I told the team the other day, a teacher is only a good teacher if the students learn, and obviously, I did a terrible job teaching our defense this year because it's been awful,” California Head Coach Mark Fox told reporters in a post-match press conference.
“Tonight is what it should look like all the time,” Coach Fox continued.
Indeed, California would do well to continue this defensive streak.
The Golden Bears face the tournament's third seed Colorado Buffaloes (20-7) tomorrow at 8:30 p.m. PT. The Buffaloes, who are playing for a higher seed in the NCAA "March Madness" tournament, trounced the Golden Bears earlier this season in Boulder, Colo., 89-60.

I think this may be my third Cal BB viewing this season. The scores looking good but boy howdy, I have have one shoe hanging by a toe, ready to drop (as normal).
At least he's self-aware
