This season we go around our writers for their takes on the other conference games that went on in gameweek.
Washington State @ USC (USC wins 30-14)
mpete91 - rip
TD_24 - Probably what was USC's biggest struggle of the season thus far. Wazzu played tough, referees shanked them, and USC is now 6-0.
Piotr T Le - We ain't winning against $C for another 10 years aren't we?
Christopher_h - USC is probably the best second half defense in the conference. I don't know how they do it, but they go from looking helpless in the first half to a shutdown defense in the second. Some awful pro-USC calls by the refs in this one though, sorry Wazzu. USC's offensive line, despite some early season issues, held up well against a tough Wazzu pass rush, particularly late in the game. It looked like Wazzu got tired and USC didn't. I guess that's the benefit of having a ridiculous amount of talent/depth on the roster.
Rob Hwang - This was a winnable game by the Cougs. There’s definitely questions around this SC team, but is there a team in the conference that could press those questions the whole game?
Utah @ UCLA (UCLA wins 42-32)
mpete91 - ripp
TD_24 - UCLA looks like they finally have it clicking for Chip Kelly. The team speed is unreal and they are rising rapidly to the top tier of the Pac 12 for this season if they hadn't been already.
Bk97 - If Utah couldn't shut down the Bruins offense, there is no hope for the rest of us.
Piotr T Le - Wilcox will continue his ignominious streak against Chip, this time it's not just scheme that'll tear our defense apart.
Christopher_h - Utah QB Cam Rising is fantastic running the ball and making plays, but Utah is sorely lacking viable receiving threats, especially with the loss of Brant Kuithe. Utah was unable to slow the UCLA run game of RB Zach Charbonnet and QB Dorian Thompson-Robinson, and if Utah couldn't stop them, I don't know who in the conference can. I'm sad thinking that the USC-UCLA game this year may have bigger CFP implications, two teams with the least deserving fanbases.
Rob Hwang - I hate this timeline.
Oregon @ Arizona (Oregon wins 49-22)
mpete91 - lol
TD_24 - Do I seriously have to be afraid of Bo Nix now?
Christopher_h - Oregon QB Bo Nix had some fantastic throws, and Arizona's defense was completely helpless to stop the run (especially Bo Nix runs). Oregon's defensive line made Arizona QB Jayden de Laura uncomfortable, including an interception and a forced fumble, which helped the Oregon secondary not give up many big plays to the talented Arizona receivers.
Rob Hwang - Bo Nix has giveth wins to Oregon. It’s about time he starts to taketh wins from Oregon.
Washington @ ASU (ASU Wins 45-38)
mpete91 - rippp
Bk97 - The Huskies have played two bad games in a row on the road. That bodes well for their visit to Memorial Stadium.
Piotr T Le - So you're telling me we have a chance against UW? Or is it desert magic.
Christopher_h - I was supposed to take clips of UW, but instead I found myself constantly taking ASU highlights, as backup QB Trenton Bourguet did superb after being thrust into action. I think some people got a little too high on the UW hype train. They have a ton of talent on offense, but their defense has been embarrassing so far this year.
Rob Hwang - Good news is if you’re a UW fan and also a Mariners Fan, the Mariners got to the playoffs for the first time in 21 years.
Oregon State @ Stanford (Oregon State wins 28-27)
mpete91 - LMAOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
TD_24 - Pac 12 after dark madness comes back and boy what a thriller. This was David Shaw esque and it was great to watch.
Bk97 - This game had everything I wanted: a blown double-digit lead by the Lobsterbacks, plenty of crowd shots with sleeping or barely sentient "fans," and a clear display that these are flawed, beatable teams.
Piotr T Le - Stanford blowing a lead against Oregon State to lose on a prayer of a throw where the Furd DB just freezes?
Christopher_h - Everyone is going to talk about this, but what a fantastic catch by Tre'Shaun Harrison to cap off that miraculous comeback. More concerning for Stanford, though: how do you let your safety get beat like that running a prevent defense? You had one job. Literally. OSU is dealing with injuries, so you could excuse their subpar offense in this one (no QB Chance Nolan, TE Luke Musgrave), but Stanford looks terrible and has no such excuse. This RPO slow mesh offense stuff may have caught USC a little off-guard, but now it's just a poorly-run offensive system, wasting QB Tanner McKee and his fantastic wide receivers' talents.
Rob Hwang - Just. Absolutely. Delightful.
Any other thoughts?
mpete91 - Go Beavs. I had to come back and answer a second time because Stanfurd University paid David Shaw more than $700,000 for that loss on Sunday and I’m concerned that Stanfurd Football might be a money laundering organization.
TD_24 - Cal didn't lose the bye week!
Bk97 - I'm feeling much better about the UW and OSU games and much, much, MUCH worse about the UCLA game.
Piotr T Le - God help me if we lose to colorado this upcoming week.
Christopher_h - The more I root against USC and UCLA, the more they win (and I've been rooting against them way harder since the B1G news and moving to LA). I think if I switch my allegiances now, my fandom can still tank both of their seasons.
Rob Hwang - Laughing at the entire conference then realizing we have to play this week.
This Saturday we have an early game at 11:00 with Colorado. Should we win? We sure should. Will we? Heck if I know. Go Bears!
Colorado has all the makings of a trap game. CU just hit no. 1 in CBS' bottom 25. A loss to the Buffs would be a devastating blow to our season. I can't really comprehend the implications.
