This season we go around our writers for their takes on the other conference games that went on in gameweek.
Utah @ Washington State (Utah wins 21-17)
TD_24 - A backup QB coming in on a moment's notice and exhibiting enough poise to win a tough road game? What is this foreign concept?
Piotr T Le - Utah continues to Utah while showing what we can be but won't be.
Bk97 - Impressive win for the Utes considering that Cam Rising unexpectedly sat out.
Christopher_h - Wazzu looked like the better team with Utah missing starting QB Cam Rising and RB Tavion Thomas (and not to mention their tight end injuries, eventually losing TE Dalton Kincaid), but a couple bad breaks (and turnovers) helped Utah squeak this one out.
Rob Hwang - I did not think this game would be as close as it ended up being and also Utah is just losing players left and right this season. A disappointing trajectory considering all the early season hype.
USC @ Arizona (SC wins 45-37)
TD_24 - USC scores a lot of points. They will continue to do so.
Piotr T Le - Arizona, you had 1 job!
Bk97 - If USC keeps allowing teams to score 5+ TDs per game, they're going to suffer an upset. What's that? Their next opponents are Cal and Colorado? Nevermind, that defense will mend itself in no time.
Christopher_h - Even without their star receivers Jordan Addison and Mario Williams, USC still had plenty of other weapons to choose from to outlast Arizona in a shootout.
Rob Hwang - I don’t know who I need to be rooting for now except Oregon.
Stanford @ UCLA (UCLA wins 38-13)
TD_24 - I am not looking forward to Senior Day against UCLA. I am looking forward to the Sicko Bowl I mean Big Game in a few weeks.
Piotr T Le - Definitive lesser of two evils win here.
Bk97 - Fun fact: With their garbage time TD, LSJU snapped an 11-quarter streak without scoring a TD.
Christopher_h - UCLA RB Zach Charbonnet again proves unstoppable, while Stanford's receivers were nowhere to be found.
Rob Hwang - Another game where we just hoped it ended in a tie or both teams take a loss.
Arizona State @ Colorado (Arizona State wins 42-34)
TD_24 - Teams continue to put up points on the Buffs. Man it makes me wonder what I witnessed in person in Boulder.
Piotr T Le - At least your defense didn't give up 34? so yay?
Bk97 - How bad is Cal's offense? ASU's formerly fifth-string, walk-on QB made his first career start and tossed 435 yards and 3 TDs. Oh, and he wasn't sacked at all.
Christopher_h - Not a fan of Colorado QB JT Shrout, but backup ASU QB Trenton Bourguet outdueled Shrout in a game that was not as close as the final score appeared.
Rob Hwang - ASU has been playing A LOT better since the firing of Herm Edwards. I am kind of surprised? Now the question is what type of coach they look for next in their CEO model.
Any other thoughts?
TD_24 - Endless pain.
Piotr T Le - Cal football continues to be the dark spot in the tapestry of this fall for me.
Bk97 - That Miami-Virginia game was pure bliss: it featured 0 TDs and went to four overtimes.
Christopher_h - Only one more month of this before I can return to the eternal optimism that next year is definitely our year.
Rob Hwang - I’ll just enjoy the sunshine….wait. why is raining?
His incentive would be to build a true legacy at the university instead of shirking away with a buy-out of his contract after he gets fired. Once that happens, he will never be a head coach again IMO.
Sorry. got cut off. Wilcox should do that because he supposedly loves Cal and wants to make it work here. Stranger things have happened. Taylor currently has the number two FCS team in the country and is making it work by platooning two quarterbacks with totally different styles. Who else does that?
