For those who complain about "lesser" bowls, we have this game as the counterpoint. 6 OTs, and it didn't look like anyone there didn't care. If this game happens in early October, we are talking about one of the best games of the year. And it was certainly more fun, exciting, and entertaining than watching Tennessee get run clear back across the Ohio River last Saturday night!
Did anyone else this morning see Ohio State QB transfer Devin Brown commit to Cal, per Rivals? About two hours later, it changed to show he was just in the portal!?!? I was excited; this would be a great Christmas gift, and Rivals is pretty accurate.
I am not sure how excited to get for this kid. The 4-*’s out of HS are solid, but I remember not being incredibly impressed with him when he started the Cotton Bowl last year…mixed feelings if he is the play.
Sometimes the 4 stars at big programs who don't get a chance to play can be good finds. I haven't seen him play. We have to trust in Harsin to get someone who fits his system.
I look forward to snagging a QB we can rally around and win more transfers/recruits.
Absolutely, Finn. The former part I totally agree with.
It's the latter part that concerns me, as he was not ultra-impressive v Mizzou, despite the Ohio State machinery, and mobility/athletcism seemed an issue. But admittedly, it is a small sample size.
If he can even be just a competent, Jack Plummer-type, I'll take my chances with the coaching staff improvements hopefully elevating the play of everyone.
Someone on X (@CollegeFBPortal) posted that “Sources tell me Ohio State QB Devin Brown will be transferring to Cal”. But I don’t know how much stock to put into this.
"Remember Pitt?" - When you start the season 7-0, an 0-5 streak doesn't seem like a likely turn of events unless there is a massive loss of key persons. More than just the loss of their QB part way thru the run.
I am sorry. The season to me is over once Cal played their game. Maybe discussing the CFP games maybe worth a little time. But, to chat about non essential bowl games to me is a waste on time unless you are an unbelievable college FB fan that knows the players.
I didn't mean not to enjoy and watch the game. I am sports FANATIC. I will watch basically any game , any sport, anytime. I love having ESPN++++ and RedZone to the dismay of my significant other. She doesn't understand how I can watch so many games. The point of my original comment was that We do not have to spend 3-4 hours online at one time on our phone or computer on this particular thread . Like We all do commenting on Bears game while We watch the game.
To me, the WFC chat rooms are like a progressive dinner party, the kind that moves from house to house. Or, like the “Cheers” bar, a friendly place where, maybe, eventually, everybody knows your name. For example, I’ve never met Bowlesman80. Couldn’t pick him out of a lineup. But I can pretty much predict that any comment under his signature is going to be cogent, entertaining, thoughtful, really funny, or some combination of these. It’s a cool forum that has evolved to a good and smart place over the past few decades.
I’ll watch any game, I don’t care who’s playing. If there are exciting players making exciting plays, which happens with regularity, I enjoy it more, sure. If the game comes down to the wire (such as the five OT game between SJSU and South Florida), for me it’s exciting regardless of whether I have a boat in the race. It’s players trying to win the day, and to end the season on a high. Yeah, I won’t spend the ridiculous emotional energy I do on a Cal game, but it’s fun still.
I only follow now because of a pool. My buddy does a confidence-style CFB Bowl pool: 20 games with spreads…it’s become increasingly more challenging with opt-outs, and because of timing this year, none of the CFP games are in.
I utilized a rather unique style of picks this year, yet unfortunately I’ve already lost 30 points! Dagger!
Love that view of Pittsburgh…took the pup up on that Duquesne Incline ride this summer.
Pitt basically had the 2007 Cal season experience.
This Toledo and Pitt game is off the rails
The part of me who roots for underdogs was pulling for Toledo, but I think for the sake of the ACC it was good for Pitt to win.

Happy Holidays!

Pick SIX for the Big Man! Toledo still in it.
Pitt with eighteen unanswered. Wow.
Ben Finley (Akron starter every game this season) had a good game against Toledo in the finale, leading Akron to an upset victory in OT.
Sooo... Dugger can't throw very well.
Where's Holstein?
On the side line. Injured.
"Injured."
That word and "sick" have lost all meaning for me.
Is Holstein pulling an Armando?
LOL.
I just wonder.
I think he might be a good pick up if he does Portal.
Waiting for the Rose Bowl. First time ever ever will be rooting for Ohio in a Rose Bowl game.
FIRE WILCOX.
That’s the only headline this blog should be posting.
*sorting out trauma and slowburn with Portal

Honestly, the answer is that they were never THAT good and were getting lucky in close games. Cal should have beat them.

Meh, I feel okay and willing to cheer on Pitt as they, too, play an exhibition game.
And Narduzzi may actually play it to win it.
I'm secretly wondering if Eli Holstein might hit the Portal and be recruited by Cal.
Or a degenerate gambler.
Or an actual fan of CFB, or FB generally. Or of Marching Bands.
Band members should get NIL money.
I don’t mind the lesser bowls, I don’t seek them out but if I am home I will put them on TV to watch.
