We got a new OL coach, again. Let's see if he can get the right group together to play as a unit. We still need a center that can scrum. Too many times I watch our Oline pad level get too high! I know it's difficult when your not up close watching what's going on but from a TV view I see high pad levels.

We just added another OL, this time from Nevada.

Tyson Ruffins.

Famika Anae could be a total game changer.

Loved the add. He is very likely to be Wilcox’s best hire and could change the equation next year. Interesting.

hoping for a few more of these "ADDS OT" posts... come on... come on...

Owens started 10 games in 2024, all but the first two. Starter on strong OL for incoming OL coach with 3 years remaining eligibility = good pickup. Also Rug likes him, which is my other barometer.

I remember feeling this good about last year’s line recruits….and the year before, and…..

While I TRY to temper my excitement, this is GREAT news! But just the start, hopefully….

So true

Yeah, Wykoff was our highest paid NIL transfer. And he rode the bench so much he transferred

Expand full comment

He was a 2022 commit so I think he has one more year of eligibility

Expand full comment

Rivals show him as 2023 class.

So he has 3 years remaining.

He redshirted in 2023 and played in 2024.

Even better!

Great pickup. Fix that O-line

Good pick up and I was hoping our new OL coach could get him and the other OL portal transfer from New Mexico.

Yes finally getting help in a big area of need! Like that, he has years of eligibility left too. Keep'em coming.

Doesn’t mean he will spend all those years at Cal. He could portal to a bigger school if he has success at Cal for a bag or portal out if Wilcox is fired.

Keep pumpin’ that sunshine ☀️

Expand full comment

I hope he does but it is just the reality of CFB right now.

Expand full comment

No question of that.

Expand full comment

No point in worrying about that now.

Expand full comment

I’m not worried, it is more just a comment on the state of CFB right now.

Expand full comment

Of course, but my comment is also one of mindset. With the updated circumstances of CFB, we also have to accept that people will come and go. I will always be happy when people choose to come to Cal over others regardless of what happens in the future that is outside of our control.

Big win!! Nice recruit! Hopefully the beginning of an assemblage of an o-line of nasty critters. I want guys that are good enough they can swagger as a group, knowing they are the real badasses. If Anae can build an o-line that can open run lanes and only give up 5 sacks a season, then we will be kicking some ass! At 6'5" 335# I could see him sliding to guard, Swinney back at center Vatakani at right guard, Morrow at LT and FWIII at RT.

If Rugbear is excited, I’m excited! 3 years eligibility can help bring us towards stability as well as ability on the OL

When it comes to OL, I let Rugbear determine my level of enthusiasm. Cranking the smile muscles upward.

Vatakani not a Senior?

Injured?

Also, the coach knows how good he is.
