I said this a while back and I stick to it. In the age of the modern portal and nil we will see offensive innovation like never before in cfb. My prediction is spavital is going to run some crazy 3 rb formation version of the flexbone or t using 3 rbs
Go big or go home. Either it will fail spectacularly or succeed brilliantly.
It’s pretty obvious this is what’s going down. No way we get all those guys to xfer in with Ott only a sophomore without this happening.
Facing this new way of recruiting really favors Cal. After spending a couple of years in cold or otherwise unpleasant climates these dudes get to bask in the good (for the most part) Bay area weather and play big time football. It's interesting that our portal success is easily more impactful than our high school recruiting. Let the other guys train, feed, and house freshmen then have them leave for greener pastures, both literally and figuratively. Wilcox & Co. seem to have pivoted effectively and adjusted to the new reality, which is a worthy accomplishment.
We'll see how it goes after Oregon and Washington leave the conference and we are left behind in the sinking Pac whatever conference. We really need to make sure we stay in the top conference.
All this running back depth is good but I’m wondering if the injuries to Caldwell and Williams are more severe than people know. That would be 5 runnings backs. Again, depth is never a bad thing but ott will be the main RB shouldering the load.
ding ding ding. Rumor is Cardwell has an ACL tear and is likely out. The Tennessee transfer may miss most or all of the season as well. Makes sense to then add 2 1 year guys to fill that gap behind Ott...which is what the staff have done
Depth in the RB and WR rooms doesn't mean a thing unless we have an O-line to block and open holes. Fingers crossed that our Golden Bears really surprise everyone this season as most prognosticators have us finishing tenth or eleventh in the Pac-12.
The running back room runneth over. Can never have too much talent/too many options, at least until people get restless from being 6th on the pecking order

Looks like we continue to add based on who is interested in coming here, not based on where our most pressing gaps are

Also, I am as surprised as anyone that we have become a significant net beneficiary of the move to the portal in CFB.

ANOTHER Texan. They are mining that productive football ground harder than even I expected.
Who is gonna block for all these guys is my question…
If need be you and I can sure try.
Wow how many RBs are we getting? I bet two thirds of RBs will be transferring out by next spring, and then add more through the portal again

That’s what I figured. Those are two big losses if that’s true.
Probably because of injury risk it's a good idea to stock up. Not sure if Cardwell and the Tennessee kid will be ready to go in the Fall.

Hmmm...lots of RB's
Are we carrying more RBs than we usually have?

I still have my Streddick stock, but looking more and more that it’s not gonna pay out in Berkeley at least.
