Not really. He was in a time share with Reggie Robertson as he learned the Tedford O, but AR saw run in the first game at K-State, and got more and more PT as the season wore on.
You do have a point…I’d say in general though, you want your JC transfers ready to produce.
Various articles about individual gets have had comments about we need depth all over... RB room is looking pretty good and now so is the WR room. I want more of everything everywhere all the time, but I am feeling much better about the depth of the guys who are actually supposed to carry the rock downfield. Optimism feels good...
Not to lose track of continuing need in other areas, of course. It's pointed out in an article elsewhere that CAL only has 2 expiring seniors (apparently about to hit the field this fall). The implication is that HS recruiting was hit due to lack of slots and therefore transfers (after all the announcements of outgoing players) are currently particularly critical. Getting even a few guys like this is huge in that situation. Maybe next class the HS recruits will also start coming...
As you'd expect for a 6'4" receiver, there are a bunch of back-shoulder fades. But there's enough other plays in there to see he not just some giraffe you put outside to outreach everyone. He's tall, but he can move like someone who is 3 inches shorter. Check out the hands at 1:30.
Welp, I am anxious to see how our rankings bump up with our most recent Bears. Right, now, 88, but look out, we're getting commitments from some quality people. #29 in transfer rankings, but that's likely before Martin and Marquis signed on.
The 247 rankings can sometimes be wrong because they don't update the players transfer rating. For example, they haven't rated Reese or the 2 new TE's making our transfer class looking lower than it is
I was deeply saddened by the transfer of Sturdivant. I don't know if Montgomery is the answer, but it feels like it's a replaceable position and we probably won't feel a "big hole"
You can't just replace someone like Sturdivant who can almost carry an offense on his own. But if you have enough good receivers, you can soften the blow -- and I feel like we have that.
Let's also not forget we've kept (so far) Hunter, who was our best receiver last year. JMike has more upside, but you can basically pencil in Hunter for 800 yards.
Agree. Some folks are saying WR is the easiest position to find impact players in the portal...let's hope he's as impactful in his own way as his size, etc. indicate he might be. No need to replace if these coaches can build something different and overall better!
Hudl he ran a 4.8! I hope that was a typo at least 4.6
Big Time get! He's really athletic & the top JUCO WR...may also play hoops! Coach Toler putting in work!
NO HOOPS KEEP HIM AWAY FROM MARK FOX MARK FOX WILL RUIN HIM
Lol, Fox will be gone next year!
seems like a "good get" at this point in the recruiting cycle - hopefully he'll had an immediate positive mpact
JC transfers that don’t are of little value.
Wasn't Rodgers riding the bench, at first?

Hunter, Hightower, Montgomery, Sterling, Anderson
LETHAL WR GROUP

Just got this feeling that Starling breaks out this year, provided he's healthy. He immediately looked the part in the limited time he saw.
Couldn't agree more. I think he will thrive in Spav's offense
Right?? Exactly. Dude's got an NFL WR body.
If he can stay healthy. big If
They all gotta stay healthy tho.
True. But Starling was the most injury prone.

Hands and decks a guy, then breaks tackles.

Welcome, Marquis.
Go Bears!
WR room is legit.
Yuge. Love that he chose us over so many blue bloods.
Great replacement for Sturdivant.
Good riddance.

Unless we have 4 or 5 500 yd receivers.

6'4" that's a big receiver.
Awesome!
