Cal's .342 hitter has entered the transfer portal with a "do not contact" tag after the Bears' first season in the ACC. (First reported via Pete Nakos on X)
Yeah, we all pretty much expected this. Gonna miss him. Played with such intensity and moxy, a great attitude on the field; his enthusiasm is infectious. Seemed to really love Cal. Again, this is sad news but I don’t know how anyone with his prospects could do anything but play the open market. Though, it seems like he’s already got an offer on the table, even before declaring. It seems that’s just the way it is now-you’re constantly being courted, and nobody is enforcing whatever anti-tampering reg exists. Let’s hope he goes to a team Cal doesn’t have to play next year.
Why should anything change? Just like basketball and football, the top players take off for greener pastures, all over the country. Cal athletics you are doing a great job being the minor leagues of college sports. I guess CAL is a step up from JUCO’s but on the same plain as maybe a D2team.

As frustrating as all this is, in no way is Cal D2.
afraid to compete
SEC incoming.....
What is “Do not contact” all about?
Teams and coaches can't initiate contact with the player until the player is ready.
Thanks. To Rae Moulton’s point, it seems likely that enough contact already has been made.
