Both the Men’s and Women’s start their season at home with a 4PM PT Tip-Off for the Women’s team against CSUN and a 8PM PT Tip-Off for the Men’s team against UC-Davis.
On another note, the kids played hard…they battled. They didn’t quit. Lars really struggled with turnovers (5 in total, ALL costly), but was more of a factor down low…career high 17 and 8 in a nice all-around game. He also banged his FT’s, which is going to be key to avoid empty trips. Askew looked solid, Okafor had some swats. Bowser and Roberson give you length and athleticism, but for all the length and athleticism on the roster, there’s not a lot of skill. And for the 4th straight Fox season, there was no flow to the offense, just a lot of passing and then harried shots, many by Askew, as the clock wore down. We’ve seen this damn movie before….the ice cold shooting droughts are not coincidental.
Not a lot of set plays. Another inefficient night. Pretty much what we’ve come to expect from Fox. Hope the boys keep battling tho.
Not in the least bit, especially after the exhibition struggle v. Chico State. UCD were solid and lucrative plays tonight…Aggies 1H Martin Luther at +152 and final tally +250…
It’s more of the same, unfortunately…really no reason to rehash frustrations. Not sure how the fan base can affect meaningful change, considering Fox’s boss is part of the problem.
Long season, and most of the Cal fandom doesn’t even tune in or care, which is as large an indictment as any, I suppose.
Lol we are so bad. Why do I subject myself to these atrocities? Wonder how many more of these ass kickings it will take for that clueless buffoon Jim knowlton to realize he has a problem…
So, Cal hired Wyking in March of 2017, and things unraveled quickly. We knew after the Maui trip and Theo nonsense that this team was already in trouble.
By the time Knowlton’s search firm hired Mark Fox, we figured it was literally a 10-year rebuild when all was said and done…we’re 5 1/2 years in, with really no end in sight.
No semblance of offense, a lot of missed layups...a lot of shuffling of players in and out, which leads to ZERO flow, because Fox honestly has no clue. This team should be ahead of the game, based on the International trip over the summer...
We'll hear excuses about injuries, as Clayton, Hyder and Celestine were all out. But Fox's offense is not efficient. It never has been.
It may be time to go full on Andy Dufresne with the constant barrage of letters to Knowlton.
I see they've advertised this on the website as a doubleheader, but since it's two separate admissions and there's 2 hours between games, it's more like two singleheaders on the same day. A nice promotion would have been to make it a true doubleheader.
Yes, Pepper sounds like a solid guard and Kristine Anigwe's brother, Christian, is a good inside scorer for the Aggies. However, their 3pt percentage was only slightly better than Cal's last season. They do, however have a few new faces, most notably Robby Beasley, a guard transfer and double digit scorer from Montana and a native of Berkeley. And, if you think Cal plays slow, watch the snail's pace UCD will utilize. You may want an espresso if you plan to make it through this one. And actually I predict Cal will play faster this season than previously as we will have more athletes on the floor. Maybe a decaf.

Wyking did it to us again.
Mike Williams is the disastrous gift that keeps on giving.
I mean are we shocked?

I would have been shocked if we won. I thought about betting against us.
As Hans Landa says, “That’s a bingo.”
You see…more bad sports.
It's laughable, buddy...so depressing.

It's going to be a long season
. . . make that a long decade.

Embarrassing is what it is, Rick.
This program won't be viable until Mark Fox is gone.
Yup. 17-1 run. Another signature loss under Fox and Knowlton.
Embarrassing.
Disgusting, only because Fox said they finally have the team that will allow them to play the way he wants them to....after 3 years of rebuilding.
This team won't do anything with Fox at the helm...
Down the stretch, the two biggest 3's of the night were taken by the worst shooter on the floor...Joel Brown. Brilliant, Mark...you buffoon.
Ballgame.
Mark Fox is absolute trash.
Who is Troy Taylor of basketball?
Dennis Gates.

;-)
Thiemann with back to back turnovers, leading to two straight breakaway layups by Pepper as Aggie's go on a 6-0 run.
Cal down 5 with 5 left.
Game over
Make a damn layup, golden...they've missed, what, a half dozen chippies from point blank?
Yikes. They don't run an offense.
And there's another missed layup by Brown.
1 for their last 20

Best move of Lars Thiemann's career
Honestly believe Kuany Kuany could have been an impact player under a coach that actually develops players.
Boy, I do despise Mark Fox's style of play. It's thoroughly disgusting basketball.

Well. As media im staying in the building between the games so..does that count? Hahah
Go Bears!!! Plant the Aggies.
Kicks off or gets kicked?
Aggies could easily win this outright.

I agree. There are no gimmies.
