For the second week in a row, Cal receives top 25 votes in AP and Coaches Poll
The Bears might be a win or two away from being ranked.
With win after win, the California Golden Bears continue to creep up the college football rankings.
Cal is now up to 35th in the AP rankings. The Bears were ranked 40th last week, receiving three votes.
Cal moved up to 38th in the Coaches Poll. The Bears were ranked 42nd last week, receiving five votes.
If Cal wins, will they be ranked next week?
It’d have been hard to perceive before the season that a 4-0 Cal, with wins on the road over Auburn and Florida State, wouldn’t be ranked. But Auburn did not play very well against Cal, slightly devaluing our quality win in the eyes of the voters, and Florida State is currently 0-3 and their season is teetering on the edge.
Cal, on the other hand, has not had particularly impressive performances in iits other two games, making it hard to find justification to rank them for consistent performance. And it’s unclear that even a win in Tallahassee would push the needle enough for a ranking, unless that win is incredibly impressive.
Cal fans, thoughts on the rankings?
F * U * K the rankings. Just keep WINNING
Rankings don’t mean a lot at this point. Just keep winning. Regarding this statement in the post “But Auburn did not play very well against Cal…”; perhaps they didn’t play well because of Cal’s play.
