The 2022 Cal football roster is out
Our news and notes, with new freshman weights and some slight changes.
The Cal football fall roster was released this weekend. Some news and notes:
Nose tackle Stanley McKenzie is currently not on the roster. McKenzie was a potential candidate to start at nose guard alongside Ricky Correia.
Akhili Calhoun, once listed at outside linebacker, is now listed as a defensive end.
The projected starting Cal offensive line can best be described as heavy and ready.
Left tackle Ben Coleman: 6-4, 330 pounds
Left guard Bastian Swinney: 6-6, 310 pounds
Center Matthew Cindric: 6-4, 295 pounds
Right guard Brian Driscoll: 6-4, 315 pounds
Right tackle Brayden Rhome: 6-6, 285 pounds
Some of the Cal wide receivers have been making gains in the weight room, with tight end Jermaine Terry now listed at 255, and wide receiver Mavin Anderson filling out at 200.

A few new additions to the roster:

DJ Jackson, a safety who got some starts at Chattanooga.
Several departures:
Quarterback Robby Rowell, the perennial fixture of many a spring and fall camp, has moved on from the program.
Outside linebacker Carter Lynch
Punter Christopher Abbes IIII
Placekicker Ronan Donnelly
Oluwafemi Oladejo also moved his number from #43 to #10.
It wasn't listed but I also gained 15 pounds.
Losing Stanley is a huge loss. We can only be as good as our lines.
