Cal adds Tobias Merriweather, the 4-star WR transfer from Notre Dame
The California Golden Bears land an instant impact wideout from the Irish.
The 4* was a top 100 player and top 20 receiver of the 2022 recruiting class hailing out of UW. He was apart of the Fighting Irish for two years but has yet to find consistent playing time and targets during his tenure there.
He only accrued 15 catches for 325 yards and a 3 TDs.
With the entrance of Jeremiah Hunter into the portal this is a key addition from the portal to soften the blow on the room.
With only TE1 and Slot WR spots with entrenched starters, he will have plenty of chances to make instant impact with Hunter, Davis, and Hightower all leaving.
He is the 6th transfer and 23rd overall recruit for our class. From a pure recruiting rankings perspective he is the highest HS rated players to put on a Cal jersey in the Wilcox era (previously it was J.Mike Benedict Arnold).
Welcome to Cal!

I was following Sturdivant stats at UCLA and he was mediocre at best. Seems like he would have been better off at Memorial getting lots time and plays setting himself up for the league. Oh well, we all make our choices in life. I wish the best for both him and Hunter, hope they don't have any regrets for the rest of his life. Nothing worst than hearing people say shoulda woulda coulda....
