For those of us who graduated before they renovated Moffit and changed that whole area, it is quite a different place now compared to when we attended Cal. There was always a space there, but not like the big lawn/glade today. It's better now, in my opinion. The only strange unwanted change is that you can't walk right up the Sproul step…

There was always a space there, but not like the big lawn/glade today. It's better now, in my opinion. The only strange unwanted change is that you can't walk right up the Sproul steps from the lawn. That's just a horrible design flaw in my opinion. My friends and I were the first to our knowledge of doing the Doe Library buildering traverse on the east side of the main entrance. Many hours spent working on that infamously difficult traverse. And I worked in Doe Library, both in the Morrison reading room and Main Library during my time at Cal. To say it is a special place to me is like saying I need air. I met two of my college girlfriends in Doe. It's the beating central heart of the Cal campus to me. Fiat Lux. Fiat Lux. Fiat Lux!
I did the cross-campus trek from the PS1 (since renamed Pimentel Hall) to Hilgard Hall three mornings a week. The only reason I was on time is because it was downhill!
