I think we will get more than vs SDSU but I'm concerned another cold night game will have many people leave early. At least it is forecasted to be a warm day, but unfortunately we will miss the heat wave that ends on Thursday.
Are we that far away from that? I understood we are pretty close. I would say that tickets are a little pricey, even in the cheaper sections, which hurts us. And his being a night game hurts families.
I'd probably mock a grown ass man waking up at 5am to wave a sign in a sea of others in support of his team. But not if that man is me. Hell yes, I'll be there.
Of all the times to be living out of state it had to be now because I would be there. I was in Eugene in 2007 and it was complete pandemonium. Chris Fowler waved to us after the game when we were walking by the set and my friend awkwardly shouted to him. I’m sure he totally would have remembered us if he was still hosting.
I'd like to say I've visited an unusual number of college campuses across the country. Without getting serious about counting them up, it's gosh, over 30. Most of the major schools on the West Coast, as well as quite a few in the middle and sad East. IMO, the Berkeley campus is not only unique. It is uniquely and majestically gorgeous. Nowhere, not UW, not Boulder, not NAU, not Eugene or any other place supposedly located in picturesque places, can begin to compare to the views from the Berkeley campus out over the Bay and Golden Gate into the settting sun, or the shimmering hills on a Saturday morning. And the old granite buildings, and redwoods, and Strawberry Creek. Faculty Glade. To be in a place so spectacularly beautiful, beneath the Campanile, and among the buildings that house the brightest minds in the world, is an overwhelming joy for me.
No words, despite my efforts here, begin to convey what that campus means to me.
Agree. And since it will still be dark when the show starts Cal should light up the Doe Library columns blue and gold like they do for graduation. It would look amazing!
I do hope they feature the Campanile which is, according to the tape you hear on the way up (was a dime for non-students when I went there), “…surmounted by a carillon of 48 bells, the last 36 of which were a generous gift of the class of 1928 “
So many SEC fans are really p***** off. That that game day is coming to berkeley. They seem to think that they own all the national publicity. It is actually a little irritating since we've beaten an SEC school three of the last 4 times.
You’re right, I don’t know why I wrote 04. I remember the disastrous game in 06 and the revenge game in 07. I was actually at Memorial for the 07 game. That was awesome and Memorial was rocking that day!
@Wiata78. Temporary buildings were further up the hill, I believe, closer to East Gate. Funny, I never knew this as "Memorial Glade;" I think we referred to it as the "Doe Library Lawn," or some variant. Unless it refers to the area where Strawberry Creek bends and there are a lot of trees, closer to Moffitt Library? Seems kind of strange to refer to open lawn as a "Glade."
Those temporary building were there when I was there. I remember the Peace and Conflict Studies office was in one of them. Faculty Glade is the OG glade and still my favorite spot anywhere.
For those of us who graduated before they renovated Moffit and changed that whole area, it is quite a different place now compared to when we attended Cal. There was always a space there, but not like the big lawn/glade today. It's better now, in my opinion. The only strange unwanted change is that you can't walk right up the Sproul steps from the lawn. That's just a horrible design flaw in my opinion. My friends and I were the first to our knowledge of doing the Doe Library buildering traverse on the east side of the main entrance. Many hours spent working on that infamously difficult traverse. And I worked in Doe Library, both in the Morrison reading room and Main Library during my time at Cal. To say it is a special place to me is like saying I need air. I met two of my college girlfriends in Doe. It's the beating central heart of the Cal campus to me. Fiat Lux. Fiat Lux. Fiat Lux!
I did the cross-campus trek from the PS1 (since renamed Pimentel Hall) to Hilgard Hall three mornings a week. The only reason I was on time is because it was downhill!
Wish I could be part of it, but mobility issues requires taking the shuttle from BART to the Greek, then a golf cart to Tailgate Town/Memorial Stadium.
I don’t know but someone looked at available seats and there were many.
Also hard to really know even from Cal’s online seat map of available tickets because there are actually more tickets available than what is shown
the MOST important thing is to sell out Memorial.
From the looks of it we are far away from that.

Will W4C be officially present at the time of CGD??
What is the Game Day schedule usually like? It starts at 6am and how long does it last? Will Herbie call the game?
Wraps by 9:00 am.
Gonna have to reconsider my Pat McAfee boycott for the week.
Are you gonna go to GameDay?
I'd probably mock a grown ass man waking up at 5am to wave a sign in a sea of others in support of his team. But not if that man is me. Hell yes, I'll be there.
I’m gonna bring the pup - WFC meet-up with donuts at Gameday!
You’ll have to tell me which sign you’ll be carrying and vice versa.
Well, I’ll be the guy with a tight hold on the leash of a maniac Brittany spaniel…fully expect all the Wilcox stans to give me the evil eye ;-)
Cool, but are you sure they are allowing pooches?
Is Colonial Doughnuts still on North Side?
King Pin on the south side? Where you can look through the window and see the cockroaches crawling on the donuts?
Yum.
Klaus Schwab would be so impressed.
Not sure. We hit up the Lakeshore location this morning tho!!
Shoutout to Cals content team they’ve been killing it

Great video, but I would have liked to see the wonderful Cal Band!
Nice. Gonna be an early wake up call!
And maybe with some views from tightwad hill. For those of us who've been up there, it's fantastic.

I miss embedding images in the comments of CGB.

FWIW...this is exactly how they should do the set for the show, in my humble opinion.
I agree. I think this is the best possible setup.

Me and a group of friends are flying up from
SoCal for this!
My son and I took the train one year. The Amtrak station is right next Spenger’s.

We lost to Auburn at home last season so we haven’t beaten an SEC school three straight times.
I thought about that after I typed it and realize I made a mistake.Ha ha ha ha
Had we beat them I think we would be on a 5 game winning streak against the SEC. We swept Ole Miss and we beat Tennessee in 2004
2004 was the Rose Bowl Mac Brown screw job year. We didn’t play Tennessee until 2006 and that was a bad memory.
You’re right, I don’t know why I wrote 04. I remember the disastrous game in 06 and the revenge game in 07. I was actually at Memorial for the 07 game. That was awesome and Memorial was rocking that day!
We beat Tennessee in 2007 opener.
We also beat Texas A&M in 2006 Holiday Bowl but they weren't in SEC at the time yet.
If we include all of that, that's 5 wins out of last 6 games vs current SEC schools.
Yeah, I don’t know how I got those seasons so wrong. I guess I am just getting old. I was at Memorial for the 07 revenge game against Tennessee.
I realized we played Texas 3 times during this spn.
Then by transitive property of including wins over those not yet in SEC, we should include our Texas wins in the count!

It would be amusing if Saban gets a ticket for parking in an NL space without a placard.
Or a big finger wag from Marshawn standing next to the Nobel parking placard- Saban, no parking here for you!
