Another O-line who was good enough to play as a (redshirt) freshman. More exciting news from the Portal! With his background as a tight end, can throw it to him on a tackle-eligible play.
Love to see as much talent as possible on the OL! I'm not sure how to evaluate Trevonte since his background is in TE and DE, with OL being a recent switch. I don't think standard recruiting scores accurately reflect the body of work of someone like this. Is he moving around because he's too good at a lot of things to specialize early or does he just have an overall low ceiling? I can definitely see why Spavital and Bloesch would be intrigued, especially since he has so much eligibility left. This is a situation where I'd love to hear from Bloesch beyond a generic coach-speak answer. Just poking around Houston message boards from when he signed there, it seems like everyone had the same questions.
My biggest curiosity is whether his versatility will translate to a more nuanced and intuitive understanding of the game, something critical to an OL. Really hoping he becomes one of those 3-star-to-NFL stories.
It's encouraging to me that he got snaps as a redshirt freshman on a respectable line, and performed adequately. Looks like he was blocked by an all-conference player only a year ahead of him. He's underweight and might only be depth this upcoming year, but landing a legit tackle good enough to play this early with additional eligibility is a HUGE get.
Go Bears! Been hoping for some news of this weekend and I'm guessing this young man was on a visit and pulled the trigger? I'm starting to feel much, much better about our depth and talent. With that stable of running backs, and our mobile QB, it could be a pretty special running team. Hope the young man adjusts to the Bay alright as it is certainly a change from Houston. Lots of Texas boys on the Bears, so he's not alone. Three years to play?

Exactly the narrative I'm hoping is true. And that we have the coaching staff to get him where he needs to go.
My imagination trends to think that each one these, say OL 'heavy duty' transfers = 0.75 of an additional win beyond, oh say a basement of 5.5 wins.
I like what you did there...
Welcome to Cal Trevonte!
Crap! We lost out on Var'Keyes Gumms :(

Thank you for making clear which Cougars.
The important thing is that this is the first comment.
