Why? Won't the Bears be traveling enough just playing conference games in the ACC? If they want to schedule non-conference games against power-5 (4?) opponents, why don't they play any of their former Pac-12 rivals (except for the LA schools, because, F them)?
I would keep an eye out for OSU/WSU games but we’ve often scheduled a marquee non conference pair of games - Texas Nebraska Oklahoma Tennessee Maryland Notre Dame pre Pac 12 Colorado
It will be interesting to see what happens once the chasm between the P2 and whatever else remains widens. Will we just be another Troy State, willing to take early conference beatings away from home for the extra buck to pay the Memorial Stadium water bills?
I like it, mainly because it's an interesting matchup. But I also like the idea of getting exposure in the B10 in case they are looking to expand again. Would be great to have a big Bear turnout in Camp Randall in '30.
Madison is the most Berkeley-esque large sized college community in the midwest. I always thought they would make for a long-term non-conference rivalry. And at one point at least, our football programs we were fairly comparable. [Lets go a long sigh.]
We've done Austin and Chicago/Evanston in the post-Tedford era (not counting last year's South Bend trip, only a couple hours from Chicago), so those are unlikely to repeat anytime soon.
In the next few years we'll be going to Pittsburgh, Boston, Las Vegas, Atlanta, Miami, and Minneapolis, as well as a host of cool college towns.
Home and home? So both games are in Berkeley. You'd think a big school like Wisconsin would insist on a home and away series. (And if home and home is supposed to mean one here and one there what do you call a two game set in which both games are at one school?)
Looks like the theme for the late part of this decade will be visiting wheat-belt tundra-towns in Minnesota, Wyoming, and Wisconsin. If we schedule one of the Dakotas, I think I read somewhere that we all win a free bucket of whey for connecting four states across in consecutive years. See y'all in Madison. Skol!

Who knows what the conference will look like in 5 years. I'm all for playing good football teams wherever they are.
If we're still playing any major college football games by the time this home-and-home comes to fruition, I'll consider that a win.
Factual statement.

Madison is a fine town but honestly (and greedily) I was hoping for a destination city like New Orleans, Austin, Ann Arbor or Chicago

For us it's home and away. For WI it's away and home. For everyone else, it's home and home.
State Street Brats is a must-visit…

We should probably play Iowa and Nebraska too and complete a circle.
I'm into traveling to Wyoming? Did we schedule something there?
