Cal Football’s non conference schedule in the latter part of the decade is starting to round into form. It was announced earlier today that the Golden Bears will be taking on the Wisconsin Badgers in the 2029 and 2030 seasons respectively.
The first matchup to take place will be Sept. 1, 2029 at California Memorial Stadium. During the 2030 season, Cal will make the return trip to Camp Randall on Aug. 31, 2030. One of the biggest connections between the programs is with HC Justin Wilcox, who served as Wisconsin’s defensive coordinator during the 2016 season.
2029’s schedule is coming together, with the home game against the Badgers followed up by a road tilt at altitude against the Wyoming Cowboys. No other non conference matchups for that season have been announced yet.
Cal fans, are you ready to head to Madison and Jump Around?
Why? Won't the Bears be traveling enough just playing conference games in the ACC? If they want to schedule non-conference games against power-5 (4?) opponents, why don't they play any of their former Pac-12 rivals (except for the LA schools, because, F them)?
I like it, mainly because it's an interesting matchup. But I also like the idea of getting exposure in the B10 in case they are looking to expand again. Would be great to have a big Bear turnout in Camp Randall in '30.
