Counter offers flooding in as we speak from Waco State, El Paso Christian and Austin City Limits U. We must maintain this robust Texas connection. Go Wilco, Go!
I know the 3-star ranking has some people sweating but if you look at 247, there are only about 50 DL recruits with 4 stars or higher. Seems like he has a good motor, strength, and "gets" Cal. This is a good pickup within our recruiting range and I welcome him!
Sounds like a change of recruiting strategy for Stanford. Under Shaw, recruiting picked up much later in the cycle. I am not worried at all. They are nearly topped out and kids are going to change their minds. Not sweating anything until sometime in November.
I think this is closer to the truth. Stanfurd tended to focus on a very small list of guys and they would commit late in the cycle. This is a large commitment very early, which makes me think Troy Taylor gave everyone an ultimatum. One also has to remember that they numerically have a lot of recruits because they have spots for them. When Shaw left, their super-seniors all hit the portal. They have zero sixth year seniors versus our seven. They have three fifth year seniors, we have 14. They have 20 fourth years, we have 22 .
So while I agree it's bad that Stanford is getting that many recruits early on and has that high of a ranking, 247's rankings are a combination of quality and quantity and other teams have time to catch up. It's still early and their average is 87.66, with only three 4* recruits and a couple unranked guys. Shaw had better averages in several of his recruiting classes and a higher share of 4* guys.
Stanford and Troy Taylor are running laps around Cal and Wilcox right now in HS recruiting. I thought our HS recruiting was bad last season but it has completely cratered now. The future is not looking bright right now.

Should be 2024 class?

He has the main ingredient for stardom: a motor! Nice pickup 👌
Looking forward to seeing the young man at Memorial in the Fall.

Wilcox clearly just needs more time…
