Cal Football earns the commitment of UC Davis transfer LB Teddye Buchanan and his brother Tobey Weydemuller
Tim Plough for Buchanan trade is processing
The California Golden Bears have gotten their first bit of good news out of the transfer portal, with UC Davis LB Teddye Buchanan committing this morning. Buchanan was most recently named 2nd team all Big Sky on defense for the Aggies, having led the team in tackles and interceptions this past season. The South San Francisco native is no stranger to awards, having been named West Catholic Athletic League (WCAL) and Central Coast Section (CCS) Player of the Year when he was a senior with St.Ignatius High School in San Francisco. The Golden Bears beat out Arizona, Arizona State, Michigan State, Stanford, and Washington among others.
Simultaneously, Cal also earned the committment of Buchanan’s brother, Tobey Weydemuller, a defensive back from Riordan High School in San Francisco. It’s a full circle moment for the family as the brothers suit up for the Golden Bears next fall.
Welcome to Berkeley, Teddye and Tobey!
247 has Teddye as a 4-star ILB. Losing KEO hurts but does open up some space. Not as much info on Tobey. Looks like he plays multiple positions (with safety as his primary) and is being recruited as a DB. But there's a chance he can get moved around depending on size, attributes, and team need at his time of matriculation.
Either way, they seem like good guys, good students, and good athletes and I'm glad to have them join.
Not to be mean to our former pac12 brothers.. but we should take serious looks at Wash St and Oregon St players as I imagine some of the more serious ones may have an eye elsewhere since the Pac2 is not going to make exposure nor have marquee games next year.
