Nice get and I hope he sticks around given his showing at the Elite 11. One way or another, for good or for ill, Cal will get much more media attention now than in the past. Let's grab the brass ring.
Yep, I've learned the hard way about this. Especially with it being so clearly about money these days. Players are giving lip service to education and coaches, but we will struggle to know about the money behind their decisions. If someone adds a zero to their NIL then they are gone.
Love it! Cal got ahead of the curve and established a relationship with him. He wowed everyone at the Elite 11, and Washington threw an offer at him, but Cal were already there.
I’m really stoked about this. Sagapolutele’s commitment I think, along with other key developments, signifies Cal is strengthening its efforts in the aloha state. This QB throws a really pretty ball with excellent placement. Seems like a great kid. Welcome and Go Bears!
I liked the comments below that he could still flip, but I agree with Strut here. He's likely to get a 4th star which would give CAL 2 in a cycle (so far) for the first time since 2021 (per 247 had 7). That's not going to win nattys and it's compared to weak HS recruiting paired with strong portal classes. It is positive buzz and I'm... well, like he said, stoked!
We lost a decent QB commit and got a higher ranked one! We have RB depth, some OL depth (including Bastian Swinney, did you notice that most of those '21 4* guys are are still around ...?). The portal has provided nice RB depth, a DB starter or two, and a QB race, but portal guys are typically from lower level programs or have not quite played up to HS rankings. They can be great but mostly they come with question marks. Wilcox holding on to the majority of high ranking HS recruits is step 2 to building the program. Step 1 is getting them to commit.
I'm not smoking sunshine, just feeling it. Positive feelings and press breed positivity among recruits, the press and alums. I have not always been Wilcox's biggest fan but we got him and I'd rather have him and be successful than not. I'm over being all gloom and doom for now.
We're going to the ACC. I'd rather be in a successful P12. My dad played for Clemson and I have ties across the footprint. I promise that a lot more football fans will notice CAL (for good or ill) starting this fall. A little positivity will go a long way.
We'll see ... left brain says don't get my hopes up ... but I'm a CAL fan and can't help myself!
Oh, and go to every away game you can. Many beautiful sites, really warm people, and another round of realignment eventually...
I'll get more excited when his LOI hits our fax machine. He'll probably be a 4-star by then.

Can’t get too excited about his commitment as there is a lot of time before he signs his letter of intent.

Jaron has a strong arm and is especially adept at long passes

Welcome to Cal!
Whew! Thank you Jaron. Such an important commit. GO BEARS!
