Cal football lands a transfer in RB Byron Cardwell
We've got a 1-2 punch
To offset the loss of Chris Street, DeCarlos Brooks, and Damien Moore, Cal needed to look for depth in the backfield in the transfer portal and boy did they find some. They landed former 4* running back Byron Cardwell out of San Diego,CA and the University of Oregon.
Cardwell rotated time with Travis Dye and CJ Verdell throughout the 2021 season, rushing for 417 yards on 61 attempts and netting 3 touchdowns. He looked prime to take over a significant amount of their snaps as Dye and Verdell both departed, but suffered an injury and was never able to see the field after 2 games in the 2022 season.
