Cal football opens at Oregon State in 2025
The first drops of the full ACC schedule are out, and we know now for certain Cal's first game.
The ACC football schedule will drip the next couple of days. We get an official piece of news that we already basically knew about: The California Golden Bears will start 2025 on the road in a familiar house of horrors: Corvallis, Oregon, where Cal will rematch up with Oregon State to start next year. The game will be on Saturday, August 30 on Labor Day weekend.
Cal beat up Oregon State 44-7 to end an agonizing four game losing streak and set the Bears back on the path to bowl eligibility. This year’s game will probably be more competitive on the road, but hopefully can put the Bears on the road to starting the season right.
There will be one more announcement tomorrow regarding Cal’s first ACC opponent of next season, before the ACC schedule will be released in full next week. Stay tuned to see where Cal will end up next season for these games (and hopefully see you in Berkeley and on the road)! Conference games bolded.
Home: North Carolina, Duke, Virginia, SMU, Minnesota, Texas Southern
Road: at Boston College, Louisville, Stanford, Virginia Tech, San Diego State
Cal fans, thoughts on the season opener?
I miss the Pac 12
It's nice to play a team we have history with. The rest of the ACC schedule... who cares? A bunch of teams we have no history with except Stanford and SMU. Whatever small rivalries might have started in 2024 are meaningless, because we don't play those teams again, except Stanford and SMU. The biggest games on the schedule are probably OSU, SDSU and Minnesota, plus the Big Game.
