Cal football recruiting hosts top targets, highlighted by rising Elite 11 QB
Lots of major targets this weekend.
The California Golden Bears will have a lot of potential 2025 football recruiting targets in the Bay Area this weekend. Let’s take a look at who’s in play. (Stars reflect the 247Sports Composite)
Three star Ewa Beach (Hawaii) quarterback Jaron Keawe Sagapolutele (Hudl highlights) having a solid Elite 11. Cal, Boise State, Oregon State have made the earliest noise in his recruitment, and the Bears can hopefully overcome the loss of their first QB commit Robert McDaniel if they could secure a commit.
Sagapolutele showed off a great arm at the Elite 11 in Los Angeles this week (video links here and here), and finished a 7on7 portion with a 16-20, three touchdown performance. He also won the rail shot for his performance there.
Sagapolutele had this to say about Cal prior to his visit.
"I think it's a place that will get me ready for the next level if I were to go there."
Four star Fullerton (Ca.) tight end Vander Ploog (Hudl highlights) is the highest ranked prospect visiting. A 6-6 prospect on the rise who also plays baseball, Ploog’s stock is definitely on the rise. Cal, Utah, Arizona State, SMU and Washington are in his top 5 and the Bears are getting the final visit. A decision should come shortly afterward ($).
Three star Wahiawa (Hawaii) defensive lineman Manamo'ui Muti (Hudl highlights) has been making the rounds to UCLA, Arizona, with Cal next up on the docket. At 6-6 and 250, the upside is very high for Muti.
Three star Bellflower (Ca.) edge rusher Epi Sitanilei (Hudl highlights) has announced his final four of Cal, Ohio State, UCLA and Utah, and set a commitment date of June 30. The Bears are getting the final visit, and Vic So'oto has made a priority to recruit the St. John's Bosco defender.
Three-star Arlington (Tx.) DT Dilan Battle (Hudl highlights) seems to have five schools in mind in LSU, TCU, SMU, Cal and Arkansas, with official visits set in place to every one of these programs set up.
Saratoga Springs (Utah) edge Nusi Taumoepeau (Hudl highlights) has set three early official visits. Stanford and Utah have already been checked out by the Westlake rusher, with Cal third up.
Three star Oakland (Ca.) athlete Deji Ajose (Hudl highlights) has been getting courted by several programs, with Oregon State, Utah and Washington all getting into the mix with official visits. Cal gets their chance this week with the Bishop O’Dowd prospect.
Three-star Brentwood (Ca.) offensive tackle Michael Klisiewicz (Hudl highlights) just took a recent official to Washington State, with Cal next up this week. The Bears would love to get more offensive tackles.
Check out the tape Cal fans! Who excites you most?
Update: Sounds like Ploog didn't visit, don't expect we're in the running here.
If Jaron isn’t going to stay home with the ‘Bows, I’d love to see him at Cal. He’s really going to surprise some people with how he outplays his ranking.
