Cal Football Recruiting 2027 Commit: Linebacker Gunnar Perry
The California Golden Bears will have two brothers potentially sharing the same sideline next season.
Cal’s 2027 recruiting cycle is kicking into high gear, as the Bears have landed their second commitment of the cycle in Gunnar Perry, from Cave Creek (Az.) Notre Dame Preparatory. Gunnar is the younger brother of Cooper Perry, who played one year at Oregon before opting to follow Tosh Lupoi to Berkeley.
Perry has also been contacted by Arizona State and Arizona and a few other programs, but once his older brother showed interest in the Bears, Cal was quick to jump in, handed him his first major D1 offer, and then landed an immediate commitment. Gunnar hasn’t been rated by the services as of yet, but Lupoi seems to be betting on being first one’s in on under-the-radar talent. His full highlight tape from Hudl is available here.
Perry joins Giovanni Hodge as the first two commitments of the 2027 recruiting class. Welcome to Cal Gunnar!

Did you know that a family of bears is sometimes called a maul? Seems fitting here!

As former college ILB coach this is a great get. I hope it makes me forget about losing Uluave, Taggert and Ferrelli from our really good ILB corp last year.
