I was thinking the same thing. These days if you get 4-5 star and not play him, he's prob gone by the next year- (thank goodness JW decided on JKS as our starter, or we could've lost him without even seeing him play). Almost better to focus strongly on the portal and grab guys who are ready to play the upcoming season. I hope they make some sort of rules to encourage players to stay at least 2 years at their respective schools somehow, I don't love the free agent frenzy style they have going now. How can coaches be expected to build a program with such turnover every year? I guess the good news for us is that this new era definitely should benefit the top recruiters, which it seems like we may be from what we've seen so far.

What may be best is to recruit locally where the loyalty will be the strongest. Then supplement through the portal.
