Cal Football Top 2027 Recruits Visiting This Weekend, Headlined By Five-Star Athlete
The California Golden Bears are getting some top prospects to Berkeley this weekend.
We all knew there’d be early 2027 recruiting buzz with Tosh Lupoi. But in only three weeks on the job, the fire has risen to a fever pitch.
Honor Fa’alave-Johnson out of Cathedral Catholic in San Diego is a five-star athlete who is considered one of the top 50 prospects in all of college football. Fa’alave-Johnson will take one of his first visits of the 2027 recruiting cycle to Berkeley.
When you watch his tape, it’s pretty clear why he’s ranked this high.
Fa’alave-Johnson released an early ten of USC, Miami, Penn State, Oregon, Notre Dame, Texas, Texas A&M, Oklahoma, Ohio State and Alabama—but that was only a week after Tosh Lupoi was introduced in Berkeley, and now he’s getting a very early visit in the cycle. It’ll be a tough battle, but that is the movement the Bears are hoping for.
Fa’alave-Johnson isn’t the only major prospect who’s visiting. Quarterback Sione Tu’amoheloa-Kaho is also taking a trip from the Pacific Northwest.
Kaho is considered one of the top 5 quarterback prospects on the West Coast. The 6-3, 210 prospect from Tacoma (Wa.) likely has either Oregon or Washington as his favorite, but the fact that (1) Cal is getting an early visit, and (2) his decision is coming very soon could portend the Bears are in as good a spot as they can be with one month under the new coaching staff. Duke and Stanford are also taking their shot.
Duvay Williams is also taking a trip up to Berkeley this weekend. The Gardena (Ca.) Junipero Serra four-star cornerback is widely considered a top 10 cornerback and a top five California prospect.
Williams is also a national recruit with interest from Nebraska, Texas A&M, USC, Ohio State, Notre Dame, Texas, Miami, Washington, and Indiana, and UCLA has also recently picked up their interest level.
Safety Malakai Taufoou is also taking a visit across the Hayward Bridge. The San Mateo (Ca.) Junipero Serra defensive back is potentially the best Bay Area prospect from this cycle, and would be a nice local win for Tosh Lupoi, who committed early to putting guardrails on Bay Area talent. Penn State has put on an early press as well though, so there will be battles ahead.
Also visiting is Taufoou‘s teammate Jeovanni Henley, a top 75 athlete by 247Sports Composite.
More visitors are likely expected in the first major 2027 recruiting weekend for the Cal coaching staff. Could we see another commit joining Giovanni Hedge for this cycle?

Great stuff...to bring in a 5 star would be a huge emotional boost, signifying we are indeed back in the conversation. Go Bears Forever!
Can't wait til the spring game of Spring Practice. And, of course the opening game with UCLA
