Cal football recruiting decisions: QB Jaron Keawe Sagapolutele to decide July 8
The Bears could be on the verge of some major commitments.
The California Golden Bears have enjoyed a jolt of recruiting success since their move to the ACC. The next weeks look like they could provide good news on several fronts.
Quarterback Jaron Keawe Sagapolutele is one of Cal’s biggest targets, and he will be making a decision next week. Brandon Huffman of 247Sports reports his decision between Boise State, Cal, Oregon State and Utah is coming Monday, July 8. The Bears got the final visit of the four schools and there was plenty of positive buzz from his trip as Sagapolutele raved about his visit to Berkeley.
"My official visit to Cal was so amazing," said Sagapolutele. "The whole coaching staff stood out to me. They really love me and my talent. They don't only want me they need me, they said. So that really stuck out to me."
Corona (Ca.) Centennial wide receiver Tavian McNair is another one to watch. And his decision is coming tomorrow, via Blair Angulo of 247 Sports. Cal, Kansas, UNLV and Utah are the final four. Here’s a snippet from Matt Moreno at Cal Rivals ($):
"What I'm looking forward to is finding a brotherhood," he said. "Somewhere I know I can develop and become a better player and get to that next level, because I want to play on Sundays. I just want to go somewhere I can get to the next level and get better."
Safety Aiden Manutai will also announce next week on Friday July 12. Cal is in his final five, along with Arizona, Nebraska, Tennessee and Washington. Manutai visited Cal. Manutai visited Cal last May and is ranked as the third best recruit out of the state of Hawaii by 247Sports. Manutai mentioned the authenticity from the staff on his visit resonated with him.

Devastated that Hawaii can’t keep any local talent. But if they have to go elsewhere it may as well be Cal!
