I'm a Big Island Bear myself. Even loving CAL, even acknowledging how regionality in college sports has been lost for some time... I mourn the drain of all talent from the islands. Mainlanders can't understand what it is like to live on these small islands at the furthest point in the world from any continental population center. It's just different here.
I am happy those who find opportunities anywhere to excel, but I am sad that locals don't find enough here to be able to stay home... particularly since 'home' is such a unique and wonderfully special place. 'Ohana just means a little bit more.
