Cal football transfer portal commit: Leon Bell, Mississippi State offensive tackle
The Bears now have three crucial offensive line pickups in the transfer portal, hopefully providing them much needed depth.
Cal added a significant boost to its offensive line on Christmas Eve with the commitment of Leon Bell, a 6-foot-8, 325-pound tackle transferring from Mississippi State. Bell, a highly sought-after JUCO prospect, originally signed with the Bulldogs in 2023 after starring at Kilgore Junior College, where he was ranked the No. 2 JUCO prospect in Texas and the No. 4 JUCO offensive tackle nationally by 247Sports.
Although Bell played in only two games for Mississippi State, he drew interest from programs such as Kansas, Louisville, Illinois, and San Diego State after entering the portal. After visiting Cal on Saturday, he committed just three days later, joining the Bears’ offensive line rebuild under new OL coach Famika Anae.
Bell is the third offensive lineman to transfer to Cal in a week, joining Lajuan Owens (New Mexico) and Lamar Robinson (Georgia State). With two years of eligibility remaining, Bell has the potential to bring towering size and potential to a revamped offensive front in Berkeley.
Welcome to Cal Leon! Go Bears!
It all starts with the line. Welcome!
