Cal football transfer portal commit: Buom Jock, Colorado State linebacker
The California Golden Bears found a great potential replacement for Teddye Buchanan in the middle.
Cal is losing a huge piece of their defense with the departure of Teddye Buchanan. They found just the player to be the next linebacker to contend to pair with Cade Uluave (who has confirmed his return).
Buom Jock from Colorado State made his commitment on Friday. He is the first linebacking commit from the transfer portal for Cal.
Cal has secured a commitment from linebacker Buom Jock, a 6-foot-4, 235-pound standout from Colorado State. Originally from Mankato, Minnesota, Jock had a great 2024 season, earning Second Team All-Mountain West honors with the Rams after recording 100 tackles, an interception, a forced fumble, two fumble recoveries, and three tackles for loss. Jock, who has played in 27 games over two seasons, had seven games with at least eight tackles this year.
Based on his defensive profile, Jack has the reps to compete for the second inside linebacking spot alongside Uluave. They will need all the new talent they can get as they overturn the defense in one year to match its 2024 production and efficiency.
Welcome to Cal Buom! Go Bears!
I see memes in this man's future...welcome!
