Cal football transfer portal commit: Tristan Dunn, Washington cornerback
The California Golden Bears landed another in the transfer portal in the secondary.
Cal is keeping active in the transfer portal as players come and go, and they landed a solid Power commit to line their defensive backline for the coming season.
Tristan Dunn, a 6-foot-4, 191-pound safety from Sumner, is transferring to Cal after three seasons at Washington. Initially a four-star recruit and the #21 safety nationally in the 2022 class, Dunn contributed at Washington on defense and special teams, recording 20 tackles in his collegiate career. His most active season came in 2023, when he played in 10 games. He logged multiple tackles in games against Oregon State, Michigan State, and Tulsa, and in the Sugar Bowl vs. Texas.
Despite limited opportunities this season under a new coaching staff at Washington, Dunn’s versatility in the secondary, including time at strong safety will make him a valuable addition for Cal. With two years of eligibility remaining, Dunn has the opportunity to fill critical gaps left by departing Cal safeties Craig Woodson and Miles Williams.
Cal, which extended Dunn an offer on Dec. 13, now lands its third defensive back and first safety in this transfer cycle. His commitment marked the eighth transfer portal addition for the Bears this winter. Cornerback Jaden Mickey and cornerback Hezekiah Masses were the first secondary commitments and should fill in gaps for the departures of Nohl Williams and Marcus Harris.
Welcome to Cal Tristan! Go Bears!
Replenish the Takers!
I love Cal's recruiting style. They are going after quality back ups that's not getting a lot of playing time who should be starting.
