When I look up team rankings of portal classes like on 24/7 Sports or Rivals, it seems like they are ranking just based on the guys each program has brought in. Is there one that incorporates in its rankings the losses to the portal in addition to the gains? Because, when you say “there is no doubt the team the Bears put on the field this fall will be one of the most talented and deepest we will see in the Justin Wilcox era” I am a little unsure if you are concluding the gains in this year’s roster have far outweighed the losses. I hope that is the case but I am not ready to declare it a near top talented Wilcox roster without any doubt. For example Hunter was a huge loss. I haven’t seen a replacement (in terms of production) based on ‘23 numbers, though we did add some speed at WR. Many of the other players added have limited snaps. Conversely Cal lost several guys who had contributed a lot of value and playing time. I would like to see a position by position breakdown before I can make a comprehensive analysis that leads to this type of conclusion. I’m sure WFC will have that leading up to the season. Thanks for your timely reporting.
Nice depth piece. I wonder what kind of talent this guy has cause he's never played. No matter. We need to get all the pressure we can get if we can crack the starting 5 more power To him.
I've been thinking, as these NIL numbers show up and we have success in the portal, how it is possible that our Bears can be more successful in an open NIL world relative to our more small market and rural peers, than we were in the underground payment world that prevailed in the past, where those schools would do so undercover and we didn't so much. I mean, what school has more built in fundraising potential than the Bears? Sure, a few, but not too many!

On3 considers transfers in & out and has us 14th. Just heads up that their NIL values are entirely unscientific guesswork https://www.on3.com/transfer-portal/team-rankings/football/2024/
I think 24/7 has overall roster talent rankings. I think we were in the 40-50 tier when I looked a few days ago.

Congrats to us and the young man.

I was wondering the same thing.
We didn’t line up a nationally #3 recruiting class, before it fell apart obviously, without promising them money.
What sport and year are you talking about?
2012 class in football would have been at the top too.
Jaylen Brown, Ivan Rabb, 2015 Basketball. What a time
Keep it up Justin. We have corralled some big time talent from the portal. Seems like the DL will be a position of strength in 2024.
