Very encouraging. Too many of us just think of QB's and other offensive players but defense is paramount in winning games. In other words, if you can't stop your opponent you have to outscore them. Stopping them makes it la lot easier to win.

Encouraging list of names. If we have learned nothing else from the college football playoff, it's that football is a game of big meanies and speedy speedsters. Then, motivation! What the hell was that Duck debacle yesterday? How great was that ASU fight, almost toppling vaunted Texas?

Bad game was about money. That was targeting on the a s u player and they completely overlooked it because texas will make them more money on the next level

Hmmm. Cal vs Miami non targeting call fits right in to that scenario.

JKS IS IN THE PORTAL

We have two pretty good QB's now. they just need to be coached up and be ready for 2025.

Those “pretty good QB’s” are about to lead the team to a 3 or 4 win season. CJ is a DECENT Group of 5 QB, and EJ looked like a HS JV QB in that bowl game.

They need MAJOR help @ QB.

But Hey, if JW gets fired I might ok with it.

When will you guys get used to the fact that Wilcox is not going to be fired. It would cost about 18 million to do that. His contract would have to be honored and the cost of contracting a new proven head coach and assistants would prohibitive.

Money aside, fans have an obligation to voice their frustrations. Especially when some of us donate to Cal’s NIL and Athletic Fund. Only ineptitude in Cal’s Admin/Athletic Dept has allowed him to remain the HC.

I wish Cal knew how to tap into its mega rich donor base like other institutions. But that is a fairly tale.

I'm also waiting for news if Devin Brown (Ohio State) is coming here, though he's staying with them through their post season run so would need to wait for that. Different reports on the internets say we're the front runner, for what it's worth.

Wow. Brown's got an arm and accuracy.

Here's high school video:

OMG- It'd be an embarrassment of riches to have both this guy and JKS.

Same, haven't seen any other names substantively tied to Cal other than maybe Aguilar whose a local kid that ended up at UCLA, but that intel is often behind a paywall. The SDSU guy is apparently well regarded and transferred late, so maybe we get lucky there. Having a QB will help with transfer recruiting, so if it is Brown, the wait isn't ideal.

Losing the best QB recruit and best returning starter of the Wilcox era back to back was a gut punch, but the silver lining is that there wasn't a transfer exodus, so Wilcox appears to have kept the confidence of the locker room. The exception would be at WR, but Toler got let go so that doesn't look as bad when you consider the position coach, OC, and QB are all gone. Gonna need last year's transfers to get healthy and step up.

How about the QB Mark Gronowski from South Dakota State, lot’s of experience and success. Highly rated.

He'd be great. That's the SDSU guy I mentioned, poor use of acronyms on my part (looking at you San Diego State). Don't know much about him, but if he's reportedly considering whether to go pro then that's all I need to hear at this point. Also, not sure I'd recommend this Cal team to a friend looking for one big FBS year to raise their NFL stock. Lots of his best options already have commits though, so timing is in our favor. It's incumbent upon Harsin to recruit a starting QB. Even if Harris or Caminong win the job, they should have to beat out a startable QB.

This is a stroke of genius by Cal's recruiting department. They are going after big name programs that do nothing but recruit for in five star recruits. The key is these guys are not getting a lot of playing time. They have high production for the minutes that they are getting.
